Stuart Bingham and Jak Jones remain level at 8-8 after a gripping second session of their World Championship semi-final.
Having resumed at 4-4, 47-year-old Bingham, who is looking for his second world title, made the more composed start, constructing breaks of 79 and a wonderful century to pull two frames clear.
However, Jones, 30, responded by compiling breaks of 67 and 68 to reel off the next three frames as he edged ahead for the first time in the match before the Englishman took a nervy 14th frame.
A run of 69 saw Jones lead again but the Welshman took eight attempts to get out of a snooker in the 16th frame as Bingham got back to all square.
David Gilbert and Kyren Wilson are also tied at 8-8 in their last-four meeting.
It is the first time in 17 years that both world semi-finals have been locked at 8-8 after 32 frames of snooker, although there has been a notable contrast between the matches.
Bingham and Jones’ encounter has revolved around tough match-play snooker, with their frames on average seven minutes longer than those of Gilbert and Wilson, whose best-of-33 encounter has been a free-flowing attacking affair.
